Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th, 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her first job was with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile due to her sharp questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of assault on a woman.
